A day without whatsapp

This was due. I have always believed in pressing the restart button and taking a break after achieving something. It helps me to calm down, which in turn provides a clearer picture of the things underlying the achievement.

This time I decided to take a break from whatsapp because of the amount of time I have been spending on whatsapp. By break, I don’t mean uninstalling the app but rather I entered an ignorance mode. The break has been refreshing and somewhat challenging. Getting tons of inbox messages , seeing the groups light up at midnight and watching my contacts bombarding their statuses My inability to reply to the messages and statuses pushed me to the limit!

But as the day started crawling, I found that I was facing a funny situation. I realised that I was finding it difficult to spend my time. This turned to be a blessing in disguise. The books lying in the closet came out and I was stunned to see the books that have been left untouched! I picked a book and started reading it. I soon realised the difference between the reality and the virtual world.

The idea that struck me was pretty simple. Whatsapp created a different world around me- a world where I know people without being acquainted with them in real life.

I was not only communicating with people, but also connecting with them. The gap between virtuality and reality is becoming more thinner day by day. While I was pondering over this, I was jolted by my phone ringing.
It was a call from my someone very close to me. There was no hello, but a series of angry slangs and a simple question : “Why are my messages not getting a blue tick?”. While I was about to answer, I realised that it was a con call. I started explaining all the philosophy to them. As soon as I was finished, both of them started laughing and asked, ” Kisne chutia kata?

The call was the only philosophical shit that I needed. As the call ended, the 24 hour period ended and I came out of my self imposed exile from whatsapp with a Smile, knowing that no matter whatsoever happens, there will be two magicians who will be there to cure me magically!
